Skyview Warranty Policy
1. What is covered under this warranty?
New Desktop Computers - One year parts and labour, on computer hardware assembled by Skyview Electronics Inc. In store only. No software warranty.
New Laptop Computers - Manufacturer warranty. No software warranty.
Used Desktop and Laptop Computers - 30 days parts and labour on the hardware provided in the computer by Skyview Electronics Inc. In store only. No software warranty.
Individual Product Hardware Warranty - Manufacturer warranty only on all products not assembled by Skyview Electronics Inc. No free support is included with setting up or figuring out how to use the products. (printers, scanners, speakers, video cards etc.)
Software Warranty and Returns - Software will only be returnable if it is still in the original unopened package. A restocking fee may apply. OEM products are non refundable. Software media is guaranteed to be free of defects for a period of 7 days from the invoice date. Defective software media will be exchanged upon availability.
2. What is not covered under this warranty?
a) Skyview does not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation of the computer.
b) Damage from misuse, abuse, mishandling or neglect.
c) Damage from use of parts or peripherals not sold or installed by Skyview.
d) Damage caused by shipping the system in for warranty repairs, or by customer improperly packaging equipment before shipping.
e) Damage caused by power failure or line surges (surge protectors for power and telephone line recommended).
f) Damage caused by impact with other objects (dropping, falling, spilled liquids or immersion in liquids).
g) Damage caused by disasters such as fire, wind, flood, lightning, earthquake or any other act of God.
h) Damage caused by unauthorized attachments, alterations, modifications or foreign objects.
i) Damage resulting from the failure to perform required preventive maintenance. Ask your Skyview representative for proper maintenance procedures.
j) Damage caused by unauthorized person(s) servicing/upgrading the computer will void warranty.
k) Loss or corruption of data or customer installed programs.
l) Any physical cosmetic damage.
m) Down time expenses incurred is not covered or subject to reimbursement.
n) Wages and revenues lost are not covered or subject to reimbursement.
o) 3rd party service or repairs, as such, Skyview will not reimburse costs incurred.
p) Customers shall ensure that all data is backed up BEFORE engaging in any warranty claims. Skyview is not responsible for any data loss or corruption whatsoever.
q) Skyview does not include any warranty whatsoever with respect to software included in any products sold by Skyview Electronics, and all software is sold "as is" and "with all faults". Applications and hardware may vary from retail versions and may not include documentation.
r) No free training or free support is included with the purchase of software or peripherals purchased from Skyview Electronics.
s) No free training or free support is included with setting up a new computer to the internet. Internet providers offer their own support.
3. Conditions
a) Hardware must be purchased from Skyview Electronics.
b) Skyview sales invoice is required to claim warranty service. It must be presented every time before warranty work will be preformed. If an invoice cannot be presented, one may be requested from Skyview's invoice history, if available.
c) Warranty is only available in store unless a service contract has been arranged.
d) To request warranty service you must contact Skyview at 1-800-903-8777 within the warranty period.
e) Loaner equipment is not provided during system servicing.
f) Skyview does not provide support or service for products purchased from third party vendors.
g) The removal or alteration of computer part identification labels will void the warranty.
h) Warranty service will be denied or limited if your account is not in good standing with all previous charges paid in full.
i) Warranty is not transferable.

All warranty service and/or technical support, including assistance provided by telephone and e-mail, will be provided without warranties of any kind.
5. In store warranty service before Skyview can service and/or exchange any computer components, you agree to:
a) Follow the problem determination, troubleshooting and service request procedures that Skyview provides.
b) Remove all features, parts, options, alterations, and attachments not under warranty service. Examples: Lexmark printer software; Simpatico software; Rogers self healing software; user installed RAM; video cards and tv tuner cards; etc.
c) Ensure that the computer is free of any legal obligations or restrictions that prevent its exchange.
d) Secure and/or back-up all programs and data contained in a computer. Skyview shall not be responsible for loss/corruption of any client data.
e) Remove any removable media, such as diskettes and CDs. Skyview will not be responsible for lost CDs not specifically itemized on service invoice.
f) All defective parts or exchanged parts will become the property of Skyview. All replacement parts will assume the existing warranty of the computer.
6. Chargeable Service and Rates
a) Non-Warranty service labour charge:
Standard - $69.95 per hour (minimum 1 hour), with a return time of approximately 1 week.
Express - $89.95 per hour (minimum 1 hour), computer will be looked at within 1 to 2 days.
Emergency - $125 per hour (minimum 1 hour), computer will be looked at the same day as drop off.
b) Warranty service is booked in under the Standard service rate. If it is important to have the computer back sooner then 1 week, the customer may choose a faster rate and will pay the difference between the Standard service rate and the Express rate or Emergency rate. Example; Upgrading warranty work to the Express rate will cost the customer $20 per hour ($89.95 - $69.95) or upgrading warranty work to the Emergency rate will cost the customer $55.05 per hour ($125 - $69.95).
All of the above prices are plus tax.
